Car Free Day is taking place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday the 22^nd of September when Custom House Quay will go traffic-free and the streets will be transformed into a community space, filled with fun!

This is a free event for the whole family with lots of fantastic activities, including e-bike and cargo bike demos, dance classes, and a live BMX stunt show. Attendees will also have an opportunity to watch outdoor short film screenings, enjoy circus performances, participate in a Chess Challenge, take part in walking tours of North Quays Campshires, as well as enjoy a visit to the Custom House Visitor Centre. For children there are cycling and drumming workshops, street games, face painting and lots more!

Custom House Quay will be closed to motorised traffic to demonstrate the positive benefits of opening up public spaces to communities and promoting a more sustainable urban mobility culture. This is done as part of European Mobility Week, and this year is focusing on designated spaces for citizens to congregate and enjoy their environment in a more community focused and sustainable way. With 70% of Europeans living in urban areas, it is important to cultivate these spaces within our urban environments.
