Free Screening: Paula

Discover the captivating film Paula, directed by Florencia Wehbe, a poignant exploration of the struggles many teenagers face with body image and self-acceptance. The story centers on fourteen-year-old Paula, who turns to a virtual community to share her feelings of dissatisfaction with her body. Through her anonymous blog, Paula shares personal recordings, exposing her friends and family in the process. As she seeks a sense of belonging, Paula embarks on a lonely and dangerous journey where eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia become looming threats.

This screening is part of the Cinema Series New Ibero-American Cinema: Women Directors Call the Shots. The series celebrates the creativity and vision of four remarkable female directors, featuring narratives led by women that highlight diverse cultural and social realities. Originating from Argentina and Italy, Paula offers a powerful lens into women’s culture and the challenges of adolescence.

Free admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Original version in Spanish with English subtitles.
