To the Women of Spain. María Lejárraga is a compelling documentary about María Lejárraga, a pioneering feminist and writer whose works were published under her husband’s name, Gregorio Martínez Sierra. This film highlights her literary achievements, her role in advancing women’s rights in the 1920s, and the challenges faced by a generation of visionary women thwarted by the Spanish Civil War.

Free admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Original version in Spanish with English subtitles.

This screening is part of the Cinema Series New Ibero-American Cinema: Women Directors Call the Shots. The series highlights the exceptional work of female filmmakers across the Spanish-speaking world, showcasing diverse stories with a focus on women’s culture and experiences.
