City Kayaking Dublin operates from their base at Dublin City Moorings, where the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship is tied up. Wild Water Kayak Club has active participants in each of the disciplines the club is involved in river running, freestyle, polo, slalom, open canoeing, wild water racing and marathon. There is a range of ability in each discipline from novice to expert, and paddlers are encouraged whether they prefer to specialise in one discipline or partake in them all, and whether they want to participate in a competitive or recreational manner. The club also has a flourishing junior section which caters for all levels from beginners courses through to instructor level training. Salmon Leap is the premier canoe racing club in Ireland and caters for those new to the sport all the way up to top international racers. Most members compete in Marathon and Sprint racing, but many also compete with great success in Slalom and Wild Water Racing. Founded in 1961 by Robin Love and Henry Nelson, Salmon Leap is situated on the banks of the River Liffey where the river flows into Leixlip Reservoir, an ideal location for canoeists to benefit from both flat and rough water river conditions. In addition, the Club is equipped with an aerobic gymnasium and heavy weights room which, together with ready access to flat water, facilitate year round training. Canoeing Ireland offers a series of courses designed to suit your needs. Canoeing Ireland is the National Governing Body(NGB) of paddle sport in Ireland. All of their instructors are fully certified and there to make your learning experience fun. Most of their courses include an assessment and qualification in Level 1 or 2 skills awards. Kayaking.ie are one of the market leaders in fun, cost effective and safe kayaking tours and courses. They provide high quality equipment to make sure that you have a comfortable journey on the water. This is a wonderful way to introduce you to wildlife, flora and fauna as well as fill you in on the rich historical and cultural heritage. Tours are run from the picturesque village of Dalkey, Co. Dublin where you can come and kayak with the seals and experience the spectacular secenery of the South Dublin Coastline with views of the Dublin Mountains. All gear and equipment is provided so you can quite easily get the DART from Dublin to come kayaking.
