Introduction to Philosophy & Meditation – Kimmage, Dublin

23rd Septemberat 7:00 pm - 25th Novemberat 9:00 pm
€25

Join the School of Philosophy & Economic Science for a 10-week Introduction to Philosophy & Meditation course in Kimmage, Dublin.

The course is designed for anyone interested in exploring practical philosophy in a simple and accessible way. No previous experience of philosophy or meditation is needed.

The course begins with a simple question: what is wisdom, and how can it be applied in everyday life? Over ten weeks, participants explore practical ideas around self-knowledge, attention, justice, beauty, truth and the way we relate to ourselves and others.

Drawing on ideas from both Eastern and Western philosophy, the course encourages participants to test the ideas in their own lives rather than simply study them as theory.

Each class includes guided discussion, practical exercises and a short stillness practice. The sessions are interactive and give participants the opportunity to reflect on the ideas, hear different perspectives and explore how they can be applied in day-to-day situations.

Weekly themes include questions such as: What does it mean to know yourself? How can we become more present and attentive? What is justice? How can we use our energy well? What is the role of reason and beauty in life? And what does the desire for truth tell us about ourselves?

Classes take place at Kimmage Manor, Whitehall Road, Kimmage, Dublin 12, on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.

The full 10-week course costs €25. All are welcome and no previous experience is required.

The School of Philosophy & Economic Science has been offering practical philosophy courses in Ireland for more than 50 years. The focus is on making philosophy practical and useful in everyday life.
